Outbreak Update

A public health unit has declared an outbreak at the residences below, on the dates noted. In each instance, we have activated required enhanced infection control measures for the safety of our residents and staff and we remain in contact with the appropriate public health authorities. We continue to monitor the health of all residents and staff in all of our residences and remain vigilant in our efforts to manage this pandemic. We are following isolation and infection control protocols and other recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer and Public Health in each of these homes, and we thank our staff, residents and family members for their compliance and support.

With the pandemic situation constantly evolving, we are adapting our visitor policy to protect everyone. These changes are compliant with the most current directive that was issues by the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Vaccination

Rapid Testing (Long-Term Care only)

Masking

Medical masks must be worn at all times when in common areas. Masks may be removed when visiting in a single occupancy room.

Visits

As protocols vary across provinces and regions, we ask that you pleasecall the Chartwell retirement residence you are looking to visit directlyto understand their most up-to-date visitor policy, including measures around:

  • Essential caregivers and designated family/support persons
  • Indoor and outdoor visits
  • Vaccination status
  • Masking / PP&E
  • Screening

We are taking necessary infection control precautions in our residences and corporate offices, including implementing all recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Chief Medical Officer and the World Health Organization (WHO). Some of these protocols include:

  • PPE available and required for staff
  • Active screening as per government protocols
  • Maintaining visitor logs
  • Promoting good hand hygiene
  • Making hand sanitizer readily available
  • Regular surveillance for signs and symptoms in residents
  • Increased cleaning and disinfection of high-touch surfaces
