Independent Living

Independent Living is a lifestyle option that is ideal for active and independent seniors or individuals looking to downsize. Older adults who choose Independent Living appreciate not having to spend time and energy on the many tasks associated with homeownership, preferring an uncomplicated, worry-free lifestyle focused on the people and pursuits they love most.

Independent Living offers a combination of 24/7 staff support, engaging social, leisure and fitness opportunities, and a wide range of convenient services. These may include delicious meal options, housekeeping, laundry and much more.

For seniors seeking light care, support services are available through the province’s Home Care program. To qualify, an Alberta Health Services Case Manager completes an assessment, authorizes and funds scheduled home care for an individual at their retirement residence.

Memory Living

Chartwell’s Memory Living program offers a unique, person-centred approach to memory care for seniors living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Trained and caring staff establish meaningful relationships with residents and their families, helping to understand a resident’s unique story to help them experience a good day, every day. Qualified staff also offer and facilitate personal and family counselling sessions.

Memory Living takes places in dedicated neighbourhoods of Chartwell retirement residences. This lifestyle option also features small resident-to-staff ratios, access to safe outdoor space, specialized activities and dining, interactive design elements, personalized care plans and dedicated Memory Living Managers.
